I found a bunch of my old game manuals. Might share some on the timeline. Physical game manuals always gave me more fun than in game tutorials. No intro needed for this classic. The car ride back from the store to your home, you were 100% cracking open that box and increasing your anticipation and excitement with each page you read.

lmao, reading those manuals and licking our lips in pure anticipation. Trying to memorize the controller layouts so you could play right away when home. 😹🕹️
There was something special about discovering a game before even turning it on. The manual was part of the adventure. 🎮✨

Man I miss game manuals, totally see why they aren’t needed now but it was such a lovely addition and ritual read with the purchase of the game
It was definitely a game experiencing enhance if done right. Having special art in there from the illustrators, interesting flavour text to item introductions or sneak peak of skills… all increases the anticipation. You’d be like “wait! What was that graphic in the manual!? When can I unlock it!?” Such a great time to be experiencing games. I wrote about it on Steve’s reply on X, but fall out 2 had an awesome manual as well. Executed very well.
The manual was basically the first level of the game. You’d read every page before even getting home.
