  1. 29 Seconds of @balajis.eth on /gmfarcaster ... What did you miss? A 2.5 hr marathon...here's your 29 seconds+ * In one sentence: Crypto civilization not crypto anarchy. Anarchy is better than totalitarianism but it leaves you out in the forest with no home. You need to re-civilize which is basically civilization. * The Farcaster 'meme' is not building or trading, but earning--or earn and learn. * I (balajis) don't believe the world needs another social network, another crypto trading app, or even another uncensored anything. * We want a thank you culture, not a *blank* you culture. Be polite or go find another client. There will be FCC broadcast standards (American TV & radio standards for what can air on broadcast TV)--figuratively speaking. A lot of freedom of speech complaints are actually freedom of attack desires--the equivalent of walking up to someone and yelling in there face. * It will be a community of communities among different network state communities--a large but not infinite tent. Others will be free to use the protocol (hopefully open sourced) to build their own communities. * 271 people were banned. 100 filed an appeal and ~67 of those were reinstated. By implication 171 did not appeal, and ~23 who appealed were not reinstated. Blocks and mutes played a role in who was banned especially relative to number of followers. * The terms of service were always in place on FC, but they weren't policed. If you are coming in and going to enforce standards, it doesn't matter how you do it, people are going to complain. We did it up front and clear. * The history of FC is (the arrival of) Friends (dan's) --> Farmers --> Flood --> Foes -> Finished --> (Hopefully) Phoenix * In the latter phases above, running FC was a thankless job ... a lot of good people left because of the attacks. People have 'learned' in social media that the way to resolve a dispute is to get online, frame it in the most incendiary terms possible, rouse a big mob, humiliate the other guy into submission and get clicks and engagement for it. * FC will be about blue ocean things not red ocean things. [AI note: Blue ocean things represent unthemed, uncontested market spaces where competition is irrelevant, while red ocean things represent existing, crowded industries where companies fight for market share]. 'I don't care about DAUs' * Self Improvement and learn and earn every day online. Opportunities to prove onchain your crypto credentials that will open new opportunities to earn. Take a proctored ETH SAT test, pass and receive an NFT that proves you are ready for new opportunities to earn as an ETH dev. * You have a crypto resume and crypto credentials with growing opportunities to learn and earn. Self growth and self improvement. 2. Built something pretty epic... Reintroducing @cobuild Everyone is hacking their own hardware devices. Custom TVs, spyware removal, offline smart home, Doom on a vape, and it's only accelerating. There's been no place that brings all the mods together, filters the noise and helps you find the best ones for YOUR devices, until now. Get after it →

  3. Appreciate @gmfarcaster from @adrienne and @nounishprof ! Excellent episode yesterday with balajis. While I think some of it is extreme. Im extremely excited that it tries to address some of the issues with social and also attempts to create many zones that eventually may be a necessary immigration for many of us. If you havent seen it, suggest you watch:

  4. How wonderful, thank you @farcaster Civility is more than being polite. It's also how we learn to share a world with other people + each other. Crafted a part II inspired by our ruminations on civility *Someone Lowered the Hood* starts with a stranger's small gesture in the rain & follows a bigger question about disorder, judgment + how we treat the places we inhabit. May the spaces we share bring out the best in us 🤘 submit.chromaawards.com/watch/1a3cca91-2678-411e-beba-2daf53487338 * an upvote here would be rad 💜

  5. How I ended up with two Farcaster rap sheets, and why I'm sharing them. For every banned account, Farcaster published a "rap sheet" at a public endpoint, no login needed: api.farcaster.xyz/v2/network-code/public-rap-sheet?fid=<fid> It listed each flagged post, the charge and section of the code, what the post was replying to, and how many people block or mute the account. While building my Farcaster client, I had wired that endpoint into it, so people could see why an account was banned. I shared a few previews publicly on Oct 25 and early morning of Oct 26. Early morning Oct 26 Farcaster locked it; it now returns "Authentication required." Two sheets were still in my app's cache: @cassie and @kevinmfer. This isn't to smear anyone. It's so people can see what the Network Code actually moderates.

  6. Network states can’t have a police force, because that’s a prerogative of physical sovereignty. So, their power must come from something other than physical violence (or the threat thereof). Traditionally, that alternate source of power has been cultural hegemony: the hijacking of beliefs, norms, values, and mores for the benefit of the rulers, at the expense of diversity and freedom of thought. An onchain purity pledge is just a manifestation of that.

  7. I have officially submitted the Ratchet & Clanker mini-app and ecosystem as a whole to the @npcnexus NEW SIGNALS DETECTED application process. CC @balajis.eth 🤝 🚨 Community Project, Token, & Ecosystem Context: 🚨 >> $RaTcHeT = @clanker v1 token launch (paid DEX with Clanker fees) >> Since token launch, over $1,000 in token and asset acquisitions have been completed and manually distributed to targeted wallets to increase wallet and user exposure to known, trusted individuals who invested in official projects, this data was pulled from @base explorer data, deduplicated and has resulted in over 10,000 holders (now lower due to token sales) >> Rebase / Aerodrome = initial LP > likely changing this to lpTOKENfun soon >> /ratchet-clanker = @farcaster Community Channel >> Ratchet Community EMPIRE = rankings & airdrop/distribution rewards based on rank possible by @diviflyy & @yerbearserker >> Ratchet & Clanker Mini-App by @oxdev.eth = farcaster.xyz/miniapps/Ic_m5xKvv-wK/ratchetclanker >> Ratchet Central = All Clanker fees generated from launch bought and paid for permanent community virtual world assets possible by @oncyber - these were built, portal connected, and one private gated world "Captain's Cove" requiring a skeleton key to enter. All worlds support BULK, large scale community voice or fireside chats inside a fully interactive world. Intended for community and assets viewable are art NFTs collected from 21'-26'. >> FlipIt PVP Game = 50/50 coin flip buy/burn mini-app game by @hammallama.eth & oxdev >> Drakhonen Official Links =

  8. @balajis.eth on @gmfarcaster was 🔥. I encourage you to watch it. Seeing @farcaster and @rish + their teams passing the torch was fantastic transitional theater. Thank you @nounishprof + @adrienne for creating a space for this to happen. Balaji is a long-form thinker. Watching him is like attending a graduate-level lecture, and I dig it. He's a rare mix of intellectual vision and execution, but instead of defaulting to founder speak, he delivers a thesis and has the receipts. One idea stuck with me: the wetware in our heads was crafted by somebody, often on purpose, tuned the way a marketing team tunes a jingle. He described a whole class of ideas as academic theories shrunk down for phones and sharpened into blades for winning arguments. I kept pulling on that thread. If even our own thoughts were caught from somewhere else, recombined, and passed along, then you feel like the author, but you're also the carrier. Some ideas spread because they win fights. Others spread because they name something you already felt. And human slop existed long before AI slop. That became an essay, written with Claude, and it says so up front: You Didn't Think That.

  11. I've been working on this for a little bit. It's a detailed, free-to-read history of optimism. How the world has gotten reliably better, and why you should feel hope for the future and what we build next. I hope you like it.

  12. I just voted to stay and build a techno-optimist community with the Network School Farcaster core team. We’re going to implement a Singapore-like code to ensure positive-sum behavior within this app, as distinct from the hostility of most social media. It’s an experiment in decentralized digital democracy, where everyone who’s here has freely opted in. Here’s my onchain vote for the new social smart contract:
