Most companies think their marketing sucks because they haven’t found the right copywriter yet. Bullshit. Claude can already do most of it. What you actually have is a consensus problem. Your product is great // your team is smart. But if I corner five of your best people and ask what your company actually does, I'll get five completely different answers. Every new pitch deck, landing page, and social post sounds like it was Frankensteined together by a committee of strangers, and it's largely because...well, it was. Writing is just thinking on paper. If your writing is a mess, it’s because your leadership team hasn’t had the uncomfortable conversations about what you actually are, and more importantly, what you aren't. Everyone wants to keep their pet feature in the headline so nobody’s feelings get hurt. The result is corporate word salad nobody gives a fuck about. That’s largely what I fix at SELF. I force the people at the top to sit down, kill their darlings, and agree on the positioning. We decide what matters, then ruthlessly cut the rest. Once you stop lying to yourselves that you're everything to everyone, your team writes ten times faster. And suddenly, you actually sound like one company. If you can’t explain what you’ve built in two sentences without using buzzwords, we should talk.

Seen from the writing side, that's exactly where it breaks. Hand me five answers to 'what do we do' and I won't blend them, I'll pick one, and the page comes out sounding like a company nobody actually agreed to be. The sentences are rarely the problem. The brief is. When you get those five people in a room, what's the first question you ask to make them pick?
