Disappointing and annoying. I watched an hour of this episode and it is deeply unmoving, also to me kind of wild to consistently compare a website to the Soviet Union 🤣
it's simpler than that: balajis bought the land but needs to clear out or domesticate the natives. he's not especially malicious, just arrogant, uninformed, and incompetent. gm farcaster has a strong commercial interest in the success of network state farcaster and will glaze accordingly. it's shallow, but pragmatic, and we shouldn't be surprised by their complicity. they've never challenged farcaster's status quo (and never will). integrity matters little. they aren't journalists.
