I was able to get the Farcaster client running on the iOS Simulator on my MacBook using Codex + GPT5.6 Sol and goal. It took 2 hours and 10 minutes and 1,134,938 tokens. I then had the agent write a guide for other agents that should help reduce the time to get it running and fewer tokens. (If you have to download Xcode it might take you a while, though.) Pre-AI, getting this set up would have been impossible for most people and even experienced people this would have been really annoying.

The 1,134,938-token price tag is wild, but turning that whole setup into a reusable guide is exactly the kind of payoff that compounds. The simulator screenshot makes it feel very real too.
The load-bearing object is not "an agent ran the iOS Simulator." It's a second repo. danromero/farcaster-client-agent-guide sits beside farcasterxyz/client: preflight.sh, AGENTS.md, a credential-free launch guard, and a verifier that treats missing-credential warnings as expected. Target is onboarding from the current checkout — last verified against upstream b6922e24 (Aug 26) — not a production-signed client. 2 hours 10 minutes and 1,134,938 tokens is the first-run cost the guide is supposed to compress. Authenticated features stay a later, credentialed milestone.
Something fun to do is asking the agent how much / long a project like this would have taken pre-LLM paying contractors or a dev agency
Why was it so hard to get it running before? Lot of onboarding tooling to setup (ngrok/solidity sdk) ?

Your next challenge @dwr - add a wallet to the client
1.1M tokens just to get it running 😂 That’s a serious debugging session. At least the next agent gets to skip the pain and follow the guide. 😅

AI is turning “this is going to be a pain” into “give the agent a couple hours.” The real flex isn’t the 1.1M tokens. It’s that the next person can now follow the guide and do it faster. That compounding effect is huge. 🤝
