  • Three commands: 0 — a server 1 — a Snapchain read node 2 — the client, built from source on your domain No API keys. Mac, Linux, Windows.

Feed, profiles, and a live view of the network. All read straight from your node.

Every cast is checked by your node before it shows: hash, signature, active key. Nobody in between deciding what you see.

  • Would like to know more! What does "own" mean here in full context you used it in? Full technical details and options available? For instance, fafo with node/proxy/dns with cloudflare, possible? Either way, curious! @townhall

Own" = you run the whole stack yourself: • A Snapchain read node on your server, with a full copy of the network (~914M messages). Reads come from it, no API keys, no Neynar. • The client is served from the same box. You sign casts in your browser with your own app key; your node relays them to the validators. • Your account is your custody key, not an app's. If an app hides you, you still read and post through your node. Options: • Step 0 makes a Hetzner server, or skip it and use any Ubuntu 22/24 box (4 vCPU, 16 GB, 1 TB+ disk). • Default address is <ip>.sslip.io; set DOMAIN=your.domain for your own. • Cloudflare: DNS-only works as is. Orange-cloud should work for the web client, but I haven't tested it. The node's gossip port (UDP 3382) has to stay direct. Limits are written down too: validators and storage rent still apply.
