I hope we have passed peak slop remember 9 months ago, when the dumbest person you know was being told repeatedly "you are absolutely right" and getting one-shotted into the craziest ambitions it turns out that closed-weights model-sycophancy-as-a-business-model couldn't survive open competition from single-minded Chinese autist AI researchers I have been revisiting personal projects from 9 months ago. those models had taken things as far as they could, before I put them on ice now, the smarter models are brutally direct about the light psychosis embedded in those designs. basically with more intelligence, fluff and dross become more apparent it was an age of lint, and finally we got better glasses

the real interesting things I see being built with AI today are generally ambitious projects by people who have been experimenting in the space for 4-10 years that is, pre-AI surviving many years of partially-successful attempts short list below
- the use-ai-to-cure-his-dog's-cancer guy had already spent a year of intense resources trying to save his dog's life - *evolu* is like one madman's life's work - *quilibrium* is like one madwoman's life's work - *quilcast* is maybe his second or second-and-a-half farcaster client - *apron dot chat* is by a dude who deeply loves chat, he made ssh-chat v1 over 11 years ago - *casberi* is like the account-less guy's wet dream of being accountless
