  • The people of Farcaster have never been like that. Disagreements? Isolated incidents? Sure. However, the hate-filled groups and people and rage bait influencers that you commonly see on X and, from what I hear on Bluesky to a lesser extent, those groups never made their way to Farcaster in any of its seasons or iterations.

Crypto twitter culture is the sole reason I disengaged with crypto for years! Looking at the statements he’s made about Farcaster’s culture, he’s literally describing X. Being introduced to Farcaster is the only reason why I interact with crypto/web3 today, it’s such a kinder space. I didn’t know it in its prime, but in this last year I have learned about microwaves, commercial refrigeration, menopause, vibe coding, DAUs, the definition of "permissionless," so much about the actual functionality of AI beyond generating a picture of yourself as a 17th century pop star 🤣 I have gained nothing but actual value here and it’s so disappointing to see the people who are actually intentional about their activity get punishment actual abusers on other platforms don’t even get 😭

Before the last year, you might’ve enjoyed learning about toe spacers 😂 and Farcaster Fridays with @ted (IRL meet-ups in Los Angeles and subsequently other large cities across the globe). The many Farcaster Conferences, airdrops, @jacek ‘s DEGEN and how he onboarded so many to Farcaster (for the better and sometimes for the worse). You’d have gotten ripped off by many scammers. And in the worse fraud, rugs, and phishing cases, you might’ve been just as shocked to witness so many of the community leaders and DAOs help recover losses or just outright give some percentage of their own funds to the many who lost hundreds of dollars to scammers. I consider myself fortunate to have been a part of the Farcaster community throughout these ups and downs, growing pains, and some of the pinnacles of this protocol that made at least some of us raving fans of this incredible online place.

  • Plus, if someone is not worried about DAU why they concerned about why people are leaving?

Maybe one person in particular wasn’t courteous to him on here and he devised this entire plan over the following years to buy the platform specifically to ban their account and we all got caught in the crosshairs. But also idk because both of these ladies are sitting there nodding so it’s like…..what is this Mandela effect of some people (like 4) remembering the fearful years of Farcaster anarchy and everyone else thinking everything was fine 😅

He’s a very hated figure for people who hate techno oligarchy kind of shit. His ideas are just recycled and presented to entice people to join a cult

it's simpler than that: balajis bought the land but needs to clear out or domesticate the natives. he's not especially malicious, just arrogant, uninformed, and incompetent. gm farcaster has a strong commercial interest in the success of network state farcaster and will glaze accordingly. it's shallow, but pragmatic, and we shouldn't be surprised by their complicity. they've never challenged farcaster's status quo (and never will). integrity matters little. they aren't journalists.
